From Curve Coffee

This regional lot is composed of coffees produced by female small-holder growers based around the San Antonio Huista town in Huehuetenango region. Growers harvest and process coffee at their own farms and sell directly to our exporting partner Primavera’s collection point in San Antonio Huista. Primavera’s quality control team then combine appropriate coffees to form this regional lot. Gender equity is a longstanding challenge in the coffee industry with women farmers having less access to land, credit and education despite making vital contributions to coffee production. Research has shown that when women are empowered to make decisions, including financial decisions about their coffee farms and families, communities are more successful and their needs are better met. As Primavera explain : "We purchase quality coffees from smallholder farmers in Huehuetenango each year to blend into a balanced, classic profile for coffee roasters around the world - each unique lot has full transparency and is traceable to the farm level. For the Sisterhood blend, we used these same guidelines but selected only coffees produced by women coffee farmers." This blend not only highlights the work of women growers, the additional premiums paid for this coffee are used for workshops for women producers.
