Mugaga Kagumoini   Kenya
WILD & WHACKY
Tastes Like:
Redcurrant, Blackberry + White Wine.
This complex, vibrant coffee from Mugaga Farmers’ Cooperative in Kenya’s Nyeri County is a true standout. Grown by 1,570 smallholder farmers at 1,648m, this SL 28, SL 34, Batian, and Ruiru 11 varietal mix represents the best of Kenyan terroir. After handpicking, cherries are delivered to one of five Mugaga factories, where they undergo careful fermentation, grading, and drying over 10-15 days to bring out nuanced flavors.
Despite recent challenges in Kenya’s coffee industry, including processing delays due to licensing changes, Mugaga maintains exceptional quality through meticulous processing and innovative water conservation practices. The result is a coffee with layers of redcurrant, blackberry, and a wine-like acidity - an excellent choice for those who love a bright, fruit-forward profile.

Kenya’s reputation for quality coffee is well deserved, recognised globally for a recognisable tasting profile and meticulous production which results in exceptional flavours. Most coffee is a washed process, dried in the sun on African beds. We return to Kenya time and again for their consistently bright and juicy cups, known for their high acidity and refreshing citrus notes.
